“It Simply Isn’t the 20th Century Any More Is It?: So Why Would We Teach as Though It Was?”

Published by Mr S under learning, professional development

K-12 Online Conference 2008 pre conference key note by Professor Stephen Heppell.

I like the chatty conversational style (”usness”) as Stephen reflected on where we’ve been (factory model – ‘cells and bells’), where we are heading and some implications for schools. (”the death of education and the dawn of learning”). Sit back, brew a cuppa, stream it in the background and enjoy.

Amplifying Possibilities, the free online conference started today. Over the next two weeks (October 20th to 31st) forty presentations will be delivered on a range of K -12 topics. I’m looking forward to it.

Being a bit of a history buff, the original Ned Ludd has cropped up a few times in my life.
Ned, he liked to smash things ’cause he didn’t get it. They named a whole movement after him.
I wonder who or what will be the 21st century Ned2.0? I am thinking unresponsive school systems.

Who do you vote for as the New Ned?
